music: who cares what's behind, just like always..
drink: coffee milk sugar
mood: overwhelmed
and voila, another long break.. yes, i am still alive and kicking, and actually i got a whole lot stuff to tell, but since i havent released a single picture during these two months, i guess i was just too lazy to blog.
so, as i've already mentioned in my previous post, this year is going to be especially rich in exhibitions, and i can go official with at least two of them, which will be happening pretty soon.
the one i am most excited about is called "martyrs", and is actually a solo show by my other half, who kindly offered me an honourable position of a guest. the gallery hosting us is the underground-famous X Lab corrosive art farm, located in Berlin, and in case you happen to be in the area, please stop by - me and nihil are going to entertain our guests at the opening, together with the local musicians Yan Keller and Ivo Saint, on june 1st. plus if you wanted a ridiculously cheap print with a special personal dedication from either of us, this will be a perfect occasion to get it, as we are planning to have a little welcome-sale at the vernissage.
the second expo is happening in paris, it's a collective show, conducted by parisian underground-famous le cabinet des curieux and titled "the new world" - i sent two of my prints there last week, and i am planning to come to the opening on may 23rd. so again, come by say hi, if you have a chance - as a rule le cabinet des curieux presents best artists and marvellous collections.
i can also finally reveal my finished project with Bastien that i mentioned in my previous post. i was going to keep it unreleased for the berlin show but the gallery decided against it, so now i can publish it online. for some reason it reminds me of works by one of my favourite contemporary artists Bastien Lecouffe-Deharme, who probably unintentionally inspired me.
my workshop is closing in - on may 18th me and nihil are flying up north to aalesund and will try our best to share our skills and knowledge with other people. im really delighted that we managed to gather enough participants for this event, and i am also very much looking forward to it. for those who wont be there - i promise to bring a full report, lots of pictures and a video with some of my tips and tricks, available for download.
on a collaborations front i finally got a finished piece from a good friend of mine, amazing illustrator from new zealand, Jeiko Despotovich. we have been working on this one for.. one year? yes, quite some time! its my very first experience with an illustrator and i am really fascinated by the result. huge thanks to Jeiko for this one, and FYI the image is available as a (really large, high quality) print - feel free to drop us a line if you're interested.
on a more earthly day-to-day note. there was another trip to paris in the end of march, and if you're following me on facebook, you have probably seen a full photo-report. but if you havent, here are the juciest parts.
a show by muriel belin, one of my most favourite (and in my opinion highly underestimated) french artists
a show by Joel-Peter Witkin who was present at the opening personally. i just have to brag that he approached me himself, and i recieved a bunch of sweet compliments and this picture as a souvenir.
another langage des visceres, which included only performances this time but was as mindblowing as the previous one. among others i was lucky to behold olivier de sagazan - and watching him "live" was truly an unforgettable experience.
my life in oslo was miraculously fixed as well. i moved to a new place and now i am sharing an apartment with two other very nice people and a black cat, which is of course a lovely coincidence since i've been dreaming to have one for quite a while now. i also got a job at oslo's bestest rock bar de ville's, where you can listen to cool music, meet cool people and drink (relatively cheap) beer served by me personally.
regrettably with all the stuff going on i didnt have that much time to devote to creating, and the project with bastien was the only image i managed to finish. but a new work is riping in my head, and the next months are going to be really busy, so as always - stay tuned!
